Our client, that operates within the public sector, is currently looking to recruit a Senior Systems Engineer to join their team.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and manage IT infrastructure, including network (LAN/WAN), storage, backup systems, and Active Directory administration.
  • Oversee and implement network optimization solutions and troubleshoot IP network issues.
  • Ensure system security through firewalls, intrusion detection, antivirus, and content filtering.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement disaster recovery measures.
  • Develop contingency plans to manage organizational emergencies.
  • Lead the Network & Security Team, ensuring compliance with ISO 27001:2022 and industry standards.
  • Manage and coordinate IT projects, collaborating with third-party suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 email systems, SQL databases, and office applications.
  • Maintain security communications equipment, including CCTV, access control, and PABX systems.
  • Support IT procurement through the Malta Government eTenders system.
  • Conduct vulnerability testing, security audits, and IT risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP).
  • Ensure SLA compliance with ICT suppliers and software vendors.
  • Provide technical support for court-related IT matters when required.

 Requirements:
  • Education:
    • MQF Level 6 in Computer Science + 4 years of relevant experience, OR
    • MQF Level 5 in Computer Science + 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in IT infrastructure management, including networking, storage, backup, and Windows system administration.
  • Expertise in firewalls, antivirus software, intrusion detection, and web filtering.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment tools, disaster recovery, and forensic technologies.
  • Familiarity with industry certifications such as CCNA and MCSA (considered an asset).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • Fluency in Maltese and English.
