We’re currently supporting a client of ours within the Investment Services industry with the recruitment of a Financial Accountant. The role encompasses traditional financial accounting tasks as well as industry specific reporting to the financial industry regulator – Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA). In addition to financial accounting and regulatory reporting, we would prioritize individuals with additional skills exposure such as internal control, risk management, compliance and anti money laundering (AML).

Responsibilities

  • Managing the General Ledger, recording financial transactions
  • Monthly, quarterly, annual statements (balance sheet, income statements)
  • Managing payments (suppliers, tax, regulators)
  • Monitoring corporate contracts
  • Bank reconciliation
  • VAT accounting
  • Corporation Tax Accounting
  • Organizing the audit process
  • Providing financial submissions to the regulator
  • Month end, year-end close
  • Cost, revenue and budget forecasts
  • Monthly invoicing
  • Monitor and report on financial discrepancies
  • Involvement in firm wide projects
  • Maintaining the holiday calendar for payroll purposes
  • Calculate individual business expense reports for payroll
  • Maintaining professional insurance contracts (annual)
  • Maintaining employee health insurance (annual)
  • Providing backup to the Fund Accounting role
  • General office procurement and management

Requirements
  • Proven work experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and SAGE accounting software
  • In-depth understanding of business bookkeeping procedures
  • Solid knowledge of accounting regulations
  • Excellent math skills with an attention to detail

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance of relevant field
  • Additional certification (e.g. ACCA) is a plus.
