Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance and support to clients on AML/CFT compliance matters, ensuring they remain aligned with regulatory requirements set by the FIAU and other relevant bodies.
- Serve as a trusted advisor in addressing clients’ queries regarding AML/CFT compliance, regulatory reporting, and engagement with regulators.
- Conduct thorough AML/CFT compliance audits and risk assessments for clients in regulated industries, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulatory frameworks.
- Review and assess the effectiveness of clients’ compliance programs, identifying areas for improvement.
- Assist clients in preparing for regulatory inspections and audits, including gathering required documentation and evidence.
- Support clients in responding to regulatory queries and interactions, ensuring that all communication and actions are aligned with the required compliance standards.
- Deliver comprehensive training and awareness sessions to clients’ staff on AML/CFT compliance obligations and best practices.
- Develop customized training materials that address client-specific compliance needs and challenges.
- Contribute to the creation, revision, and implementation of AML/CFT-related policies and procedures for clients, ensuring compliance with national and international standards.
- Assist clients in staying up-to-date with evolving regulatory requirements and guidance.
- Assist clients in the preparation of Risk Evaluation Questionnaires, Customer Risk Assessments, and Business Risk Assessments.
- Support clients in identifying, assessing, and mitigating AML/CFT risks within their business models and operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of compliance activities, including audits, risk assessments, and advisory engagements.
- Prepare reports on AML/CFT compliance issues and present findings and recommendations to clients and senior management.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, criminology or related area.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in AML/CFT compliance within the financial services industry, ideally occupying a regulated role.
- In-depth knowledge of the AML/CFT regulatory environment in Malta and the EU.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with regulatory bodies, clients, and team members.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory documents.
- Proficiency in English, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
